Re-elect Debbie Miller Rose Township Clerk
Hello residents.
I am your current Clerk, elected 16 years ago. I bring a wealth of knowledge and understanding to the Rose Township office. During this time, I have successfully completed every election without error. The elections are the most important duties of the township requiring daily updates and changes made by the State. Rose Township is one of the last of the rural areas in Oakland County. One of my goals is to keep it that way.
I have been a Rose Township resident for the past 56 years. I am married to Mark, and we were blessed with a heart transplant for him last March. Thank you, dear residents, for your prayers, well wishes and offers to help.
I am a Master Municipal Clerk, Michigan Professional Clerk III and accredited 2022 State of Michigan Clerk of the Year.
I am on the Oakland County Clerk’s Legislative Committee, and I make every attempt to update and learn about current legislative lobbying on professional Clerk issues.
Some of my statutory and non-statutory duties include Elections, Accounts payable, Payroll, HR Manager, FOIA Coordinator, social media, manage positions of Recording Secretaries for the Board of Trustees and the Planning Commission. I am a member of the Cemetery Committee overseeing three township cemeteries.
I have an MBA degree in Management, and 22 years of experience in the Financial Service industry. Until 2008, I owned and operated a successful small business in Rose Township.
I am an active member of:
IIMC – International Association of Municipal Clerks
OCCA – Oakland County Clerks Association – Legislative Committee
Board of Directors member of North Oakland County Fire Authority
Oakland Livingston Human Services Agency – OLHSA Board of Directors
Chairperson of the OLHSA North Oakland Advisory Council
Member and Secretary for the Rose Township Cemetery Committee
Appointed to the Oakland County Safe and Healthy Elections Task Force 2020.
Over the past few years, I oversaw installation of new fences and flag poles at all three Rose Township Cemeteries. Transparency was lacking in the township office actions, and I initiated the recording and posting of all township meetings on YouTube and soon the public education channel. This had never been done, prior to me being the Clerk.
.
I am project manager of the Rose Township “Clean Up Day.” It takes weeks of preparation to coordinate the date and workers from North Oakland Fire Authority and Republic Services. We normally service four hundred vehicles that day, ensuring a beautiful clean, junk-free township.
I believe in promoting education and professionalism and this is how I have earned confidence and trust that the residents know I will continue to do an excellent job and they never have to worry.
For the past 12 years, I have met with the AP Government class and the National Honor Society students at Holly High School for election inspectors. I bring the election equipment and demo ballots, allowing the students to perform a mock election. I also register them to vote. I will be meeting this spring to recruit again at Holly High School with the new AP Government teacher.
Students are our future. I try to provide them with the knowledge and importance of elections, how they work and the necessity of learning about issues and candidates.
I am immensely proud of the fact that my election inspectors consist of high school and college students, middle age, as well as seniors. Quite a range of ages, 17 to 85.
My record in the Clerks position, as a trustworthy, confident, and honest person that will do the research needed for the correct information has been shown daily and at each election.
I would like to thank you so very much for your continued support. I would be honored to continue to represent Rose Township as your Township Clerk. My door is always open, and I will continue to serve my profession with honesty and integrity and address the prominent issues of my residents.
